About

Pernille Sørlie is a Norwegian textile artist. She graduated in 2013 with a BA in fashiondesign from The National Academy of The Arts in Oslo, but have over the years developed in direction of art.

The form of her work strongly emphasizes feelings, moods, and atmospheres. The themes are emotions and the psychological spaces in life; the visible and the invisible, the real and the unreal.

Her techniques are acrylic paint on textiles, hand embroidery and textile applications.

She works within the perspective “grave to cradle”; where low-value material is input for the production of new art. Low-value material is garments and fabrics that are no longer “in fashion” and therefore are unwanted. By adding intellectual, emotional and economic values, she upcycles the materials and gives them a new life in a new form.
